#ROW80 – The Dust is Settling – Check In

No we’re not talking about the hole in the kitchen floor, that is still there, in fact it looks a bit bigger than when we first put it through.  However, we are talking about the whole concept of moving home, see to us, we’re in a house that has a roof and windows – its ok, needs some work, well alright a lot of work, never the less it is a house and it has a great view.

However, we’re slowly coming round to the idea that perhaps a move would do us all the world of good and it would certainly allow me to spend more time in an office with privacy, which will mean more time on Add Deal and all sorts of different projects that I have up my sleeve.

Anyway, enough about that lets focus on this weeks ROW80 check in.  This week has seen a lot of interesting goals being fulfilled, and in fact as we write this there are quite a few strong pains coming from our back, shoulders, and legs… all will become apparent in this weeks check in.

Blogging

  1. Blog 10 times per week: Well we think we’ve made a good start on this with a good 4 or 5 new blog posts being published, thus far this week.
  2. Guest Blog Posts: Excellent progress made here this week, finally, we’ve sent a guest post to a fellow WordPress follower, A Day in the Life – we’d like to extend our thanks to her for publishing this  - we’re scheduled to go live on the 4th February so be sure to take a look – click here to visit her blog
  3. Pages: We’re currently in the throws of making two new pages for the blog, our website and our company website, both of these pages are part of our legal policy regarding the handling of your information.
  4. Comments: Don’t know if you have noticed but we have been very busy with regards to commenting on peoples blogs.  We’re hoping to comment on more blogs in the future.
Overall this week has been a very successful week in the way of blogging.. how well did you do??

Work

Meanwhile on the working frontier things have started to slow down a bit… kind of:

  1. Complete goals as set out in the business plan: We’re still making progress on this, and one of the objectives was to find a supplier who would provide the backend services needed for Add Deal to function as a loyalty card provider… we’ve found one.. we’re just waiting on the phone call – will be e-mailing them if we’ve not heard back from them by Friday this week.
  2. Have at least 5 new users signing up per day: – Not much progress on this goal, we’ll be making this our priority this week with changes being made to our website.
  3. Launch Add Deal Babies.com: Coding continues… and great progress has been made on this thus far.
  4. Make arrangments for cards to be printed:  We’re now waiting on the final part of this, which is to have our backend provider, give us some idea of pricing so we can work out what we need to charge businesses as a subscription fee.
  5. Develop Add Deal.TV: – Work has paused on this due to focus on other areas… we will be looking at this probably in February time.
  6. Register as Self Employed: No need for this just yet, we will be removing this goal as of this week and making it a priority as soon as the other goals are complete.
  7. Set-up Business Bank Accounts:  Bank and Manager have been identified, we have been unable to get hold of him thus far, will try again this Friday.
  8. Offer Add Deal for FREE:  We’re going to be making a fuss of this, and in the next couple of weeks look out for our artwork and the promotions we offer.

Exercise

We’re sure we don’t need to tell you too much about our story here.  We have actually managed to get the Wii Fit board out and we have also come up with quite a good fitness regime complete with our new healthy way of living which includes lots of weetabix and over the course of the next few weeks plenty of fruit and veg.

Due to the sheer amount of exercising that has been done over the past couple of days, the body is now aching something chronic… if anyone can recommend any kind of way around this that would be great.

Autobiography

At present I have to say I haven’t been able to get round to blogging about myself this week – however it is on my list of things to do and will be publishing something in a couple of days.

Photography

We’ve seen the camera that we would like, however, due to the house move, all funds are being designated to this.. we’re hoping that in March time we will be going for the camera..

We’ll also do a blog post about the camera we have chosen and how we find it… – keep your eyes open for this.

Other

E-mails: We’re thinking our inbox could do with more of a tidy up, so this week we’re introducing some new folders, entitled WordPress, Card Services and Enquiries – that way we really are all organised.

Music: No new tracks this week – we’ll be focusing on this in the coming few days.

Movies: Not been to see any new movies as yet, however, the new Coriolanus does look very interesting – so there is a possibility that we may be going to see this.

TV Series: Difficult, very difficult, we’re still undecided, some weeks we catch the tale end of American Dad other days its David Attenboroughs Ice World.  We’re thinking, we may just go with both of them and be done with it… as one is factual and the other is quite light and done in a comedy style way.

#ROW80 Checking in…

Wow!! Second review of our progress towards our goals.  Last time, if you remember, we were making great progress towards our business goals but we hadn’t yet made a start on the whole exercising regime.  You may also remember we were looking into our music tastes and our aim to reach 200 tracks before the end of the first round of ROW80.

If you would like you can review our progress, back at our first check in, or take a look at the quick amendments we had to make.  However if your new here you will need to take a look at our original goals in order to make top or tail of what it is we’re going on about.

Now without further a do, we’ll take a look at our progress towards out goals thus far.

Blogging

  1. Blog 5 times a week – we’re really quite pleased that we were able to achieve this, this does not include any of the ROW80 blogs or check ins.  We have achieved this bang on with a total number of 5 blog posts being published since the start of the challenge.
  2. Guest Posts – hmm we’ve not been doing much of this over the past week so it is certainly a goal to be achieved before the next check in…
  3. Pages – at the last check in we had updated our about page in line with our goals.  However, we’re sure you have noticed all of the new pages that we have published without content??  We’ll be adding content to these pages before the next check in :D .
  4. Comments – we have been very sociable since the last check in and as such we have noticed a few people commenting on our blog posts – we are trying to reply to all of you as well as leaving comments on your posts – thank you so much – we’re looking to do more commenting before the next check in.

Work

  1. Work towards the business objectives – we are making progress in this area, however this is quite slow and we’re looking to re-define some of these objectives this week as some of these objective have been complete or made redundant.
  2. Have at least 5 new users signing up a day, we’re gutted that this has yet to happen – so this week our aim is promote, promote and promote some more – we’ll also make the website a bit more interesting.
  3. Launch Add Deal Babies.com – we’re approaching this goal on time, however, this week we will be spending a lot more time on the coding…
  4. Loyalty Card Printers – we have been reviewing the prices from the company, and contact will be made this week to find out if they can start us off with a smaller quantity as an initial order of 5000 cards is quite high to start with…
  5. Set up and develop Add Deal TV – we have set the domain name up and have pointed this to our web servers, we’ve also made Add Deal TV a dedicated website for a month so we can discover the benefits of this.
  6. Register as self-employed – no further work has been taken on this – due to focusing on other areas.
  7. Set up Bank Accounts – we  have chosen a bank that we want to go with and we’ll be making an appointment with this bank before the end of ROW80
  8. Offer Add Deal for free – our offer will be setup before the next check in :D .

Exercise

Hmmm, well considering we wanted to start this part of our goals this weekend, we as of yet, have not been able to get round to it.  This weekend was not spent as we had planned.. we we’re hoping to start the Akido class on Friday but we were distracted with other tasks and instead spent the evening enjoying a movie and a quiet night in.

Photography

Yes, now, we went to our local photography store this week – they usually have a whole host of leaflets with different cameras, offers and deals on for you to be able to take away and have a look.  Well we went to pick one up and surprise surprise they didn’t have any so it was a quick retreat before being caught by the anxious 17-year-old sales assistant.

Other

E-mails - we went through our inbox and we found a whole host of twitter follower notifications, so without further a do we created a  new folder and put over 800 of these messages into this folder… resulting in a very clean inbox..

Music – when we started the challenge we had just over 70 tracks in our iTunes applications, we have now have close on 90 .. new tracks this week include: Usher – Yeah, CeeLoGreen – Anyway – Eminem Not Afraid and Lose Yourself – Snow Patrol – Chasing Cars – Sean Kingston – Party All Night – Savage Garden – Truly Madly Deeply – Frantic Romantic – We don’t have to take our clothes off… just a couple of the new tracks we have on our iTunes.

Movies - we didn’t attend one of our Akido lessons due to watching some new movies these included, the new Harry Potter, Bad Teacher and the In Betweeners – we have yet to watch our 4th and final movie The Hangover Part 2.  We have to say all of the films were really good – we’ll put a review up of them before the next check in.

TV Series - No look as yet on this frontier – although the American comedies such as Fraiser are stating to look quite enticing.

Not a bad few days things considered, we have to say that the weekend we did sort of slack off our goals and instead spent the weekend with family enjoying some quality time together.  We’re hoping that before the next check in we have completed a few of our goals and we can start focusing on a wide range of other activities.
